Lynnwood High School Project Selects CCI

The Edmonds School District has selected Control Contractors, Inc. to be the control systems provider for their largest single construction project to date, the new Lynnwood High School. The existing Lynnwood High School is situated immediately adjacent to the Alderwood Mall in Edmonds. The School District recognized the significant value of this size acreage in such a strategic location. Using their financial savvy to leverage the value of the property they negotiated a long term lease with retail developers to fund a variety of future school construction projects including a significant portion of the $80 million new Lynnwood High School.

The scope of the project included much of the typical air handling units, VAV boxes, chillers and boilers but also included LEED systems such as natural ventilation in all of the classrooms and CO2 demand ventilation controls on most of the single zone air handling unit applications. There are over 650 separate dampers on this project required to implement the natural ventilation strategies.

The District also chose this project to begin migration to the new TAC I/A and Niagara (UNC) DDC controller and front end technologies. Great effort has been put forth by the District to standardize on mechanical systems including controls. Using the power of the Niagara based UNC controller technology they are able to integrate newer control technologies with their standard Network 8000 control applications at the field level.
